I can't believe it's been almost two months since my last post on here. Time goes by so quickly lately. I've been so busy with kids and Girl Scouts and everything else that I just have not had a minute to sit down and keep this up to date. Well, I do but I'm on Facebook sooo...
Let's start with February. Kaela turned 9 on the 9th!!! WOW! I can't believe it. NINE! She's almost to the double digits. My little girl is growing up. I could do the norm and sit here and say how much I miss her being a baby but really I'm not sure I miss it all that much. Sure I look back at pictures and just think, "If I could just hold her in my arms one more time" but then I wouldn't get to enjoy the things I so love about her now. We laugh. We dance (usually to the song Body Language that we made up a dance to). We talk. We shop. I love those fun moments with her. I love her sillyness. I love that when I tell her that I haven't had my morning hug and kiss she says, "Or your morning sit" and then sits with me and we watch t.v. I love those things and I think I love them more than I miss her being a baby. I welcome the years to come and I welcome her getting older because really, it's just getting better.
During the month of January or February Trent tried out for a baseball team up in West Jordan I think. The Highlanders. He had attended a baseball camp there Winter 2009 and Dalan was interested in the program. We got more info on it and decided to take him up for tryouts. Unfortunately, he didn't make the team. We were so rooting for him. The good news is, and from what I'm understanding, is that it's mostly because he was the only 11 year old trying out for a 12 year old team. The coaches said he did well. So, we are going to take him up at the end of this year to tryout again and hopefully he makes it this time. It's a big dedication on our part since we would be driving him 2 hours to practice three times a week but we think this could be a really good opportunity for him especially since his first love is baseball.
As for me, I've just been really busy with trying to plan Girl Scout meetings and we are right in the middle of cookie season. I can't wait til cookie season is over. We are going to be doing our cookie booths the weekends of the 12 & 13, 19 & 20 and if any cookies are left 26 & 27. We'll be sitting out in front of the grocery stores so come buy some cookies from us...PLEASE! I've also done some substitute teaching here and there and that's been a lot of fun. Something else that's keeping me busy is planning trips....ugh! Although the trips will be a lot of fun, the hotel booking, car rentals and flight booking is not.
That's about all that has been going on. Nothing too spectacular or wonderful. Just the same old stuff as usual (which is why I probably rarely update this). Hope all is good and warm on your end because it's freezing here.

It's almost serene around here.
Things have been pretty mellow in our house lately. Usually I'm fighting with Trent to do his homework while Kaela is screaming at the top of her lungs in the basement with her cousins as they play Littlest Pet Shops. Then Dalan comes home and wonders why I'm in such a bad mood. Dealing with a pissy 11 year old is enough to put anyone in a bad mood. Lately though Trent has been somewhat mellow and not as high strung as he usually is. Kaela still plays loudly with her cousins at times but oh well. What do ya do? When Dalan comes home, I'm more relaxed and not in such a stressed out mood. In fact, the last few days I've woken up at 5:30 AM, made him breakfast, got the kids fed, ready and sent off to school and then I head downstairs to workout. And after all that, I'm not tired...at all! Lately I've had all this energy. Sadly, it's not being put into doing laundry and cleaning the house but that's just asking a little much of me. I actually sleep well at night and I don't toss and turn as much. I just feel refreshed and not achey. I have to attribute this all to the fact that I've been working out...like mad. It's amazing what it can do for ya. My back is getting stronger so I assume that is why I don't have the back pain anymore. I just feel so much better now that I've started up again. After a while I will start to hate the whole working out thing as it starts to feel like a chore. But, for now, I'm all for havin a bangin body and a butt so sweet it will make a grown man cry..otherwise known as Onion Butt :oD

Embarrassing Moment Of The Day
I was to meet Dalan and some friends at the Pizza House for lunch this afternoon. Dalan gave me 30 minutes notice. Since I had done absolutely nothing the whole morning but sit and try to catch up on Days Of Our Lives, I still had to shower and get dressed. So, when he told me to meet him there at 12:15 pm., I didn't leave the house until 12:15 pm. I was five minutes late, no biggie. Anyway, as I'm walking into the restaurant I see Dalan through the window...or so I thought. I went straight to the table where Dalan was sitting and guess what? It wasn't Dalan. Oops! The two guys sitting there probably thought I had lost my mind. But, I'm blonde so maybe they just expected it.

Small Town, USA
When you pull into Delta, UT you might think to yourself this town is nothing special. You might think it's kind of an ugly town or would be pure hell to just live here. Pull in on a Sunday and it's a teenagers worst nightmare. I know this because when I was in 8th grade, we got into town on a Sunday and I was horrified. Just about every business is closed and you'll find only a few cars on Main Street. Delta is a town that when discussed the fact that the only streetlight in Millard County is here...in Delta. Main Street lives up to it's name. Just about everything and anything is on Main Street. There are no big name stores or big name restaurants (unless you count McD's, Subway and Hogi Yogi). I dreaded the day Dalan made patrolman and we were going to move back here. I would miss the city. The malls. Target being 15 minutes away. But yesterday, that all changed. Yesterday I saw something that you don't see as you pull into town. It's something you don't see often anywhere anymore. Camaraderie.
Yesterday was Deputy Sheriff Josie Greathouse Fox's funeral. I didn't attend the funeral because I was one of those unlucky ones who didn't know her. I did however attend the funeral procession. I wasn't going to at first and then decided at the very last minute to jump in my car and speed to the middle school which is where my sister and her husband were sitting and waiting for everything to begin. It was quite a sight to see all the middle school kids, including Trent, pour out of the northeast doors, each of them grabbing an American flag to hold along the route. I later found out that Kaela was also along the route but much further down from where we were. High school students also made the walk over to hold flags along the route. When everyone was positioned and all flags were in place it looked amazing! I have never in my life seen anything like this. Ever. I don't know how many times I looked up and down the street just to take in the sight of so many flags. I opted to not take my camera to take pictures because I felt weird about it but did get a few with my cell phone. As the procession started I stood there holding my nephew. I held him for about half of it and then held a friends baby for the other half. Not once did I sit down. I didn't think the procession would last too long but I was so wrong. My count was an hour and a half, others say an hour and 45 minutes, the news reported TWO HOURS! Whatever it was, every person stood the whole time as numerous vehicles drove by....motorcycles, cars, K9 Units from all over Utah and also from Idaho, Nevada and Wyoming. Three kids passed out while holding flags because they had their legs locked instead of standing with them bent a little. It amazed me how one little community can come together for one person. It was amazing how many kids there are in Delta :o) I overheard a couple people say, "I didn't know there were this many kids here." I think for the first time ever I am proud to live here. I was so proud to know and see so many people take that time out of their day to come down and stand on the side of the street to honor this amazing women. Seeing all those kids standing there not once looking annoyed or tired or even complaining was just awesome! After the procession when I was taking Kaela in to get her hair cut I saw a police officer at the memorial where all the candles are. He stopped, dropped off a pink teddy bear in a plastic bag and just stood there. I have to say, that brought tears to my eyes. It was just one of those moments.
So, anyone can say what they want about this town but when push comes to shove, people do and will pull together here. I always say I wish I could live back east and I still do. It's where I'm from but I think Delta will do just fine.
Below is a quote from an interview with Sheriff Dekker that was on KSL5. He was commenting on how good can come from this.
"The bringing of our communties together to remind us of the blessings that we do have and the good things going on, and that we do have good people here, and that one person can make a difference."

P.S. Santa forgot something
One thing I forgot to mention in the Christmas blog is that Santa left something behind. When the kids checked out the plate of cookies...that were mostly eaten...they found a note that Santa left for them. They also found that Santa forgot his gloves!!! His hands must have been freezing! They both got e-mails later in the day from him saying that he had left his gloves here by mistake and since Kaela had asked for something of his, she could take care of them for him. Apparently, one of his most favorite, most sweetest elves made them for him ;o)
GOTTA LOVE CHRISTMAS!!!
:o)
GOTTA LOVE CHRISTMAS!!!
:o)
Christmas/New Years Eve 2009
The holidays kept me busy this year. It seemed like I was always doing something and just didn't have time for that other thing. I absolutely had no motivation whatsoever to buy gifts for anyone. It was just one of those years. Even I didn't care one bit if I even got one gift but I have great friends, a great hubby and a great family who makes sure I'm taken care of. In fact, I flat out told Dalan that I did not want anything and to not buy me a gift. I am not one of those girls who says don't buy me anything and as I'm saying it I'm thinking, "I'll never let him live this down if he really doesn't buy me something." No, I meant it. As Christmas got closer though and I realized he was going to get me something I just told him that either Rachael Ray pots and pans or a Dyson vacuum (I got both) would be great. I for sure didn't want jewelry (I have enough of it) and figured if he was going to get me something, it might as well be something I can use. I've been wanting the pots and pans for years but would never buy them. My in laws got me the vacuum which I love!! I've never vacuumed so much in my life!!!
....Vacuum now sounds like a really stupid word. Okay...back to blogging...
The kids had a great Christmas!!! They woke us up at 1 AM. I swear I heard the the prancing and pawing of each reindeers hoof and then the sleigh take off of our roof. We told them to go back to bed and they came back in at 3 AM..ugh! Finally at 4 AM, I told Dalan we HAD to get up. They just wouldn't let up. They went through their stockings first and they both got digital cameras. Both cameras had already had pictures on their memory. I guess Santa was having some fun with them. They both smiled and thought it was funny. They each had a picture of themselves asleep on their cameras and Santa left candy canes on their pillows. After the stockings they tore into the presents. A Remote Control Car. Wii games. Littlest Pet Shops GALORE! Clothes from Justice. A Steelers beanbag chair. Flick Trix....and more. They both had a great Christmas. Once we were done opening gifts we got ready and headed over to my in laws to visit and have breakfast. More gifts were waiting for the kids and my vacuum was there. Dalan and I share the vacuum but guess who gets to have all the fun and use it? Yep...me. We hung out til noon there and then headed to my parents for dinner. Again, more gifts. Dalan got his most favorite thing so far...a remote control helicopter. Ya know those ones you see them flying in the malls? Yep, that's the one. He got that from my parents and has not tired of it yet. I got a cookbook and a recipe book. My sister gave me an electric blanket and that thing is freakin awesome! LOVE IT! After all that we came home and relaxed and just enjoyed what was left of the day. The kids played with all their new stuff and life.was.good.
Jump to New Years Eve. We went to the High School for Delta's little NYE party for the kids. They get 4 of those blow up bouncy/slide things and put them in the gym. The kids just run wild in there. When they announced parents could play too, my sister, her friend and me jumped up and went for the slide. My elbow now hates me for this. As I was going down, my elbow rubbed on the slide and took the skin right off. It happens. My sister did the same thing. It burned like hell! I will never go down one of those things without a long sleeve shirt or at least just putting my hands up in the air. Once the kids were done with that we headed over to Bill and Chrissys to hang out. Pretty much just ate junk food and played the Wii. Nothing too exciting. Once the ball dropped, we headed home.
HAPPY 2010!!!
I did not make any resolutions and really I never do. I just think they are stupid and people never stick to them. The only thing I'm going to try to do...and I say this all the time...is try to enjoy every moment to the very fullest. You can be pulled out of this life just as quickly as you are put into it. The other thing I've been saying since the kids have been on winter break is get back into my workout routine. I really got away from it when the kids were out of school and I could see all my progress melting away. Now that they are back in school I'm going at it full force. I started yesterday and I'm about to go and get my workout in for today.
I hope you all had a fantastic holiday season! I know we did. I am now looking forward to what 2010 has in store for us. I'm sure it's going to be just as memorable as 2009. Love you all!
Peace, Love and Sunshine :o)

D.A.R.E Graduation
Two blogs in one day. WOW! This is a rarity but I was so amazed by a few words I heard that I had to write something about it. So, if I'm excited to type it all out, you better be excited about reading it.
Today was the D.A.R.E Graduation at Trent's school. Only three 6th grade classes participated in this program. Why? I know there is at least one more 6th grade class and they didn't participate. Does that automatically tag them as the kids who are a lost cause or were they gifted with the common sense to know right from wrong? If it is the latter, I'd like to introduce them to a few people. Anyway, I was going to skip this because I honestly didn't think it would be that big of a deal but I'm glad I went. I learned something new. It started out with two kids from each class reading their essays they wrote. Trent claims his was ranked third in his class. He just missed out on that one...darn it! I sat through and listened to each essay. I learned that Marijuana has more tar than tobacco. Hmm..didn't know that. I've always heard that Marijuana is natural, so therefore it's not as bad as cigarettes. What do I know? I've never done the stuff before and I figured others knew what they were talking about. Guess I should've just Googled it.
Anyway, Trent has taken the pledge to stay drug free. Please God, let him stick with this one. Drugs is one thing I never got into, unless you count alcohol and I did try smoking but I don't count that. Smoking is a disgusting, nasty habit. I really don't know how anyone does it. I do not hold it against those who do it, it's just not my thing and I really like my lungs and being able to breathe. Anyway, I'm kinda getting off topic here.
So, the officer who was there speaking said something that really surprised me. He told us parents, "I DARE you to look through your childs pockets, in his backpack, go through his dresser drawers, etc." I was taken aback. I mean, in this day and age parents are always talking about how kids need their privacy and parents shouldn't infringe on that. Parents should never go through their childs things. Oh really. These are the same parents who claim their kids share everything with them because they respect their privacy...uh-huh. Sure. I don't care if you are parent of the year, your kids will hide things from you. My kids know I will go through their stuff at any given moment. I mean, it's not something I told them, it's just understood. I don't literally go searching for anything but nothing is off limits to me. I have access to their rooms. I go through their backpacks (mostly to make sure I'm getting the papers I should be getting). Trent has an e-mail and a Facebook account and when I let him have it I told him I will have full access to it. I will see everything he does and everything he says so he better be careful and not be stupid. It all comes back to common sense. I think that kids can and should have some privacy when it comes to certain things. Some things should be "their own" but for the most part, parents should be checking up on their kids. If the kids had a journal, I think I would leave that alone. However, if they acted like something was wrong and they were just down, you can bet I'd be reading but I hope they know they can talk to me about anything.
So, I guess I don't see anything wrong with going through your kids stuff. I think sometimes parents give their kids way too many freedoms too early in life. And going through their stuff isn't such a bad thing. If I was one of those parents who felt the kids things were their things and they were totally off limits and something happened which could've been avoided if I had snooped, well, I'd feel pretty bad. I'm not taking that chance ever. I'm proud to say I snoop through my kids stuff...kind of. And I only say kind of because it's more like stumbling as I'm doing daily chores.
