Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Yeah, I know, I'm a bit late with this but if you knew the week I had, you would totally understand. My week was filled with hanging out with the in laws, which is totally fine. I guess you could say I get along with them pretty good and they don't totally bug me either :oD If you are an in law and are reading this, you know I'm kidding and we have fun. Anyway, most of them we only see around the holidays, so that means that while they are here I get to spend every waking moment with them. Anyway, it turned out to be a crazy, busy week and I could use a vacation to recover from it. That likely won't happen. Now, I get to get ready for Christmas.

Now, I thought I would list a few things I am thankful in random order. This could be boring, but if you're bored or nosey, I suspect you will read on.

1. My family. ALL FAMILY!!! They really are great and there when we need them. Trent and Kaela are my little balls of energy and make me wish I could be a child again.

2. Friends. I think I know some of the coolest people on this Earth. Seriously. They are all great and I'm glad they are or have been a part of my life.

3. The United States of America. I am thankful I live in this country even when it seems like things suck at the time because in other countries, they have it much worse than we do here.

4. Our troops. Moment of silence.....I could never sacrifice what they do. They are all truely amazing people. REAL LIFE HEROES!!

5. Nature. There is nothing like being up on a mountain and looking down at the scenery. So peaceful.

6. A bunch of silly things I will not mention. Well, okay, I will mention a few. Indoor plumbing, for obvious reasons. Microwaves pretty much rock. I know this because I lived without one for a few months. It sucked! I am NOT thankful for my cell phone. I wish it would get lost sometimes. Our house (not so silly), even though it's a pain in my butt. At least we have a roof over our head, for now.

That's about it. I also have to mention I probably have the best husband in the world. I know most of you think you do, but seriously, you are so wrong. To be nice, I will say I have one of the best. He totally trusts me and lets me be me. In fact, I feel like I am ME when I am around him. So, I thank him for that. I can be wearing sweats and a t shirt and I am still as sexy as ever to him, even with my stupid braces :oD

So, to end this, we should all be thankful for what we have and stop worrying about what we don't have because there are people out there who have nothing.

To answer your question......

I have been asked several times by people who know I went to the NKOTB concert, "Do they dance?" I found this video from their performance in Detroit. It's the same performance I saw here in SLC. This was by far my favorite. So, check it out for yourself.

New Kids in Detroit

I don't care that I'm acting like a 12 year old!

Well, as you know already by the below post, I attended the New Kids On The Block concert. I just want to say that just because I am grown up, it doesn't mean I have to act like it...all the time. I took tons of pictures at the concert and decided I would have them printed out and put them in a book. I went with my cousin who I haven't seen since who knows when. I was probably barely learning to read. So, I would like to remember this fun night I had with my cousin and be able to look back at the pictures I have of my favorite childhood boy band. So, as I am organizing them, Dalan decides to pop into the room and make fun of me and tell me I'm being a little crazy about the whole thing. Oh yeah, really? Well, let me just say this, I did not spend my day off of work wearing a belted holster thingy and "drawing" my gun while pretending to be a gun slinging cowboy like in the old western shows. Yeah, I'd like to see him try to make fun of me now.

She likes to keep it interesting.....

Oh, our Kaela, I just don't know what to do with that girl. Trent has had his Christmas List completed since way before Halloween. Then there's Kaela. I asked her the other day if she knows what she wants for Christmas. She said she didn't know. I asked her if she had a list written up. She said she didn't. I then told her if she doesn't have a list, how will Santa know what she wants for Christmas. She then said, "Santa already knows what I want for Christmas." CRAP!!! No he doesn't. Our Santa is 6'4" with dark hair, wears nothing but Harley shirts and goes by the name Dalan. However, he just provides the cash, while I'm the one who "makes" the toys and wraps them. Anyway, neither one of us knows what she wants. I only know she wants a purple I-pod. That's it. Luckily, my dad and Dalan have come up with a plan to hopefully save Christmas for her. My dad is writing her a letter as Santa asking her why she has not sent him her list yet. Hopefully that works. If not, I'm hoping I'm a good guesser and can get lucky and put exactly what she wants under that tree. All fingers are crossed!

After all these years, these boys still have it!

For months I have been wanting to go to the New Kids On The Block concert, but I just couldn't get anyone to really commit. When I was younger, I loved them! I had every tape they released. I knew every song. I wasn't so priveleged to have all their merchandise, but the music really was enough for me. So, a big THANKS goes out to my cousin Stephanie's screw up. She attended the concert in Charlotte, NC where she lives. Well, long story short, she missed just about all of it and decided she would fly out here and come to the concert with me. YAY! I was so excited and had the time of my life! We were in the 17th row. We could have had 3rd row, but she was having a hard time deciding on whether or not she wanted to fork out the cash to fly out here. Totally understandable. We were still in a great spot. The concert was so fun and these guys still have it. As soon as you entered the building, you turned into a 12 year old girl all over again. They are still loved just as much as they were 15 years ago. I honestly didn't think I would freak out or get so excited, but when I heard that intro, I screamed my head off, was jumping up and down and telling my cousin, who by the way probably didn't hear me, "I can't believe this. Oh my God! Oh my God!" I about lost it! I seriously went back to a time when I was living in SoCal, had amazing friends and no worries. It was one of the BEST nights I have had in a long time. It was so fun to just let go and not care what people are going to think because they are all acting just as stupid as you are. So, if they really are going to do a summer tour and come back to SLC, I'm totally there and will hopefully be front row. LET'S GET THIS!!!

Irrational? Maybe. Crazy? Most definitely

So, about 5 days or so I found evidence of a mouse in my pantry. Not the best news for me since I am scared half to death of them. Well, not long after finding the evidence, I ended up coming face to face with the damn thing. The result of this ended with the mouse running across my shelf to wherever it came from and me running out of the pantry screaming "JESUS CHRIST!" and sounding like I had fallen through the floor. The kids of course laughed, I didn't think it was too funny. After that, I decided I was too afraid to go into the pantry. I went to Ace that day because it is the place and I purchased some mouse traps, which unfortunately did not work. I sat on the couch that whole day listening to the mouse chirp. I only got up to go to the bathroom. Dalan swore to me that I had caught it. So, I worked up the bravery to step back into the pantry. Now, when I originally saw the mouse, I was so scared to go in there that the next time I went in there, I made sure to grab everything I needed and placed it on my counter...to stay. So, I open the door somewhat confident in Dalan's words. I flip on the light and guess who's running across the shelf again? So, of course, my reaction is not much different and I have decided the mouse is out to kill me. I swear I was close to a heart attack. So, back to Ace and I buy the HUGE rat glue traps because I want to make sure if the mouse decides to run across my shelf again, it is not getting past the glue trap. When I get home, I go back and forth on whether or not I should put it in there. I opt for not. After I picked up the kids, I talked Trent into putting the trap in there for me. Yeah, I know, I'm pathetic. The glue trap actually did work though because we caught it the next night. Dalan got rid of it and as far as I know there is not another mouse in there. I'm left to clean up and go through the food to see what it got into. So far, the Top Ramen soup, Cheerios and dog treats (the dog treats could be another mouse :0$) I have decided that I am putting everything in plastic bins and putting it in the pantry. As I was packing it all in bins, Dalan looked at me like I'm a crazy person. Well, maybe I am. This is something he has mentioned before. I really am adding fuel to this as the days go by. You should see me walk around my house. I walk around scared. It really is hysterical...to the person that is not me. I just can't help that I'm scared of mice. We had a huge mouse problem when we were living in CO. It was so bad, they crawled into Trent's bed. I witnessed this first hand since I was lying in bed with him when this happened. Ever since, I have scary, crazy thoughts about mice. So, yeah, maybe it is insane to ask Dalan to plug up every hole or crack in the house, but if it gives me peace of mind, he should be more than happy to do it...which he is not.

Election 2008

So, wow! Obama, huh? Totally expected, but not who I voted for. I don't view myself as either a democrat or a republican even though I'm a registered republican. When I am choosing who to vote for, I try to find the person who's views are close to mine. Could possibly be a democrat, but it rarely is not. I've heard and read a number of things about Obama that really do worry me. I really don't know what his plan is for our country and sometimes I wonder if he even knows. Either way, I really do hope it is a step in the right direction and things don't turn out as bad as people think they will with him being our new president. I certainly hope it doesn't come back to haunt us and then in 4 years there is yet another mess to fix. I do have to say I do not like how he won the election. Too many people out there voted for him for the wrong reasons. Too many people registered to vote for the wrong reasons. Those people should have never been handed a ballot and not just because they voted for someone I didn't. I believe if you are going to vote, you better know what in the hell you are voting for. I know it's your right but don't take advantage of it. I'm sure this fact applies to both candidates, but I think it applies more to Obama. I'm going to try and not judge until he proves something of himself. A few people I know are short of freaking out. Why? What are you going to do about it? What is done, is done. He won, that's it. Congrats and please don't screw up. It was done fairly, well as fairly as politics gets because lets face it, no matter what side you are on, they all lie, cheat and steal. It is what they do best. To me, they aren't people. I don't think any one of them is genuine, but they are in a tough spot and have the job of trying to make everyone happy, which is impossible. A lot of people say they are worried. I'm not yet. I think I have too many things to worry about right now (like the mouse in my pantry I can't catch with the two traps I have set up) let alone worry about what is going to happen months from now. I figure wait and worry about it then and even then, what are you going to do about it? Absolutely nothing. The majority of America voted for him. They wanted "change", which is fine as long as it is "change" for the good.

So, aside from that, I am sick of reading all the trash talking about Sarah Palin. Okay, so you don't like her, fine. You are entitled to your opinion, so state your opinion with some class. I like to know what other people think, but it is always nice to read a post that sounds like it is from someone who graduated high school. I am so sick of reading people posting that Sarah Palin is not smart and in their post they have misspelled words and their grammer isn't up to par. Yeah, who's not smart now? I cannot stand when grown adults cannot spell a word correctly. I mean, come on folks. Dictionary.com is only a click away. I don't know why people feel the need to get on the internet and just post nasty, snide remarks. People need to grow up. I know if Obama lost, I wouldn't be on there talking trash about him or his family. You don't kick a person when they are down. It's wrong. It is sick to read how people are extending their hate to the candidates families. What a sick world this is. I really do feel bad for my kids.

Anyway, here's to hoping the next 4 years will be the best 4 years in a long time. It is way overdue.
